The Academy of Excellence Fund

Academy of
Excellence

Supporting small businesses and new entrepreneurs. To learn business, it is enough to do business. A fund open to everyone to build experience and promote small business enterprises.

The Foundation

The Democracy of
Small People

The Al-Ansaar Association fervently believes that the Democracy of small people is embattled, constantly in danger from the undue influence of big money, and therefore in need of protection.

Small businesses are the cornerstone of our Democracy, and indeed the lifeblood of Our Communities.

Our Belief: To learn business, it is enough to do business.

How It Works

The Academy
Framework

A fund open to everyone, not just Muslims, to build experience and promote small and new businesses

1

Management Oversight Teams

Acting as facilitator for pro-bono management oversight teams of Muslim financiers, accountants, solicitors, and consultants. Each candidate gets one point of reference mentor plus access to the whole team.

2

Protecting Independence

Carrying 100% of Type B Shares of no value to explicitly prevent the sale of the Company via buyout to any National, Multi-National, or Company employing over 50 people.

3

Financial Oversight

Approved bookkeeping services with complete and ongoing oversight of accounts on a daily basis, appointed through the Management Oversight Team.

4

Interest-Free Loans

Initial loans carry no interest repayments. Underwritten with personal assurances from the applicant and a stipulated deadline for repayment.

5

Recapitalisation Rights

If recapitalisation is needed, the Al-Ansaar Association gets first refusal at pro-rata market value. Further investment in exchange for part ownership.

6

No Usury/Interest

Companies will neither accept nor provide finance based on usury or interest models. Risk should be accepted and mitigated, not fully eliminated—this is best Muslim practice.

7

Liquidation Rights

Type B Shares allow the Al-Ansaar Association to liquidate the Company by majority vote of trustees if any provisions fail. After liabilities, half of remaining assets go to the Association.

8

Freedom to Grow

Successful applicants are free to form other businesses, become part-owner in other businesses, work elsewhere, or sell shares after a specified evaluation period.

9

The Academy of Excellence Logo

The formed Company will carry the Al-Ansaar Association logo for THE ACADEMY OF EXCELLENCE on its letterhead and in all email and other communications in a prominent position—with pride.
