Creating safe spaces on British High Streets for Muslims to meet, pray, and regenerate community spirit. High Streets are the lifeblood of communities.
High Streets are the lifeblood of Communities, and we hope that providing this space will lead to the regeneration of Community Spirit and small businesses.
— Musalla Proposal
The (Al-) Ansar Association proposes designated spaces within High Streets to provide safe spaces for Muslims to meet together and pray. This is not a Mosque or Masjid—there is no appointed Imam and no formal authoritarian structure.
The Musalla will be closed on Friday mornings prior to Jumma' and will NOT provide Jumaa' facilities. During suggested Jamaat times, the Imam will be chosen from those present.
Accessible spaces within the heart of our communities
Led by those present, not by appointed authority
Supporting small businesses and community spirit
A community-driven approach that regenerates High Streets while providing safe spaces for worship
During Jamaat times: main area designated as prayer space. Outside of those times: social venue with a quiet secondary area for prayer.
No appointed Imam. The Imam will be chosen from those present during prayer times, embracing shared leadership.
The Musalla will be closed on Friday mornings prior to Jumma' and will NOT provide Jumaa' facilities.
The Musallas will not own or rent properties. They rely solely on the goodwill of Muslim property owners to fulfil community needs.
The (Al-) Ansar Association provides a framework to facilitate community work centred around the Musallas.
Musallas undertake to promote weekly minimal subscriptions from the public in support of the Association's community work.
The (Al-) Ansar Association holds that for far too long traditional Muslims have conflated conservatism with orthodoxy. Islam makes of us all braves, and the foremost of our braves are those that are intellectually curious.
That is the way of the father of our Nation, Ibrahim (as), the father of the Prophets. The (Al-) Ansar Association is foremost to appreciate and encourage our braves, and those from this Host People who choose Islam and seek to make it their home.
Embracing questions and deep inquiry into faith and meaning
Celebrating those who embrace Islam with courage and thought
Supporting those who choose Islam and seek to make it their home
